Official Journal of American Association of Occupational Health Nurses Inducted Into Inaugural Nursing Journal Hall of Fame

Chicago, IL, September 04, 2018 --(PR.com)-- Workplace Health & Safety journal, the official journal of the American Association of Occupational Health Nurses (AAOHN) was inducted into the inaugural Nursing Journal Hall of Fame at the International Academy of Nursing Editors (INANE) 37th Annual Meeting Aug. 7, 2018 in Boston, MA.

Workplace Health & Safety was one of 13 journals recognized for 50 or more years of continuous publication and sustained contribution to nursing knowledge. Current editor, Lisa Pompeii, PhD, FAAOHN, accepted the award on behalf of AAOHN. Additional recognition was extended to previous editors, Margaret Hargreaves, PhD (1957), Margaret Carnine, RN (1964), Geraldine Williamson, MN, RNC (1987), Pamela Moore, EdD, MPH, RN (1996), and Joy Wachs, PhD, RN, FAAOHN (2004).

“It is an honor to accept this award on behalf of Joy Wachs and the other talented journal editors that led this journal over the years including Pamela Moore, Geraldine Williamson, Peg Carnine and Margaret Hargreaves,” said Dr. Pompeii. “The 75 year publication of Workplace Health & Safety is a testament to their leadership, hard work and dedication to occupational health nursing.”

Founded in 1943, Workplace Health & Safety has served as the official publication of AAOHN for 75 years. What began as the American Association of Industrial Nurses, the scientific peer-reviewed journal supports and promotes the practice of occupational environmental health nurses with leading edge research findings and evidence-based clinical practices. Today, the journal has over 4,000 members and publishes articles that span a range of issues, including workplace health promotion, injury and illness prevention, safety, case management and more.
