Charlestown, RI, September 22, 2018 --(PR.com)-- Emerging writers and those who just need a bit of inspiration and direction, will gather on Saturday, October 6 for Beachcombing Your Memoir, a day long retreat sponsored by the Carolina Fiber and Fiction Center.

“Everyone knows someone who has a desire to write a memoir and that’s because we all have a story to tell. But few actually bring that desire to fruition,” says co-facilitator, Patricia Chaffee who hopes to change that. Writers of all level of ability are invited to participate in this inspirational, educational event presented by Pulitzer Prize nominee and author Grace Farrell and award-winning journalist, Patricia Chaffee. This unique opportunity is being held in the spectacular, waterfront studio of Farrell who lives in Charlestown.

“Writing a memoir is a hard process of digging down into the self and questioning everything,” says Farrell. “We don’t chronicle our memoir, searching for inevitability, instead we talk about beachcombing our memoir. We filter through all those grains of sand, digging deeply until something sparkles and draws us in. We discover a little jewel and let our writing spiral out from there.”

The all-inclusive program offered by the CFFC is the first in a two-part series on memoir writing and takes place Saturday, October 6 from 9:30-4:00 and will include a continental breakfast, a light lunch, a balance of time alone and time together and nourishment for the body, mind and spirit. Registration is $195 per person and limited overnight accommodations are available. Call (860) 536-0051 or email gfarrell@butler.edu to register or for more information.
