Fad Diets are a Dime a Dozen

Dallas, TX, March 08, 2006 --(PR.com)-- Fad diets are a dime a dozen. It seems like every time we turn around there is a new diet being touted by Hollywood celebrities and socialites alike. Unfortunately, as with many fads, the results are as fleeting as the latest and greatest diets themselves.

Lady Trainers To Go nutritionist Anna Yuschak, MA, advises that her clients refrain from extreme diets. Instead, she recommends they eat a healthy balance of fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains, low-fat dairy products, and lean proteins.

Yuschak, who is familiar with most major nutritional plans, notes that there are major flaws with each meal plan and would never suggest a specific “diet” to her clients.

“Everybody thinks they have a simple solution to cure everything, a quick way to lose weight,” Yuschak says. “In reality, when it comes to a diet, it’s a lifestyle, a habit that people need to learn how to eat appropriately.”

Medical experts, along with Yuschak agree that too much of a good thing is bad. For example, in the macrobiotic diet, followers divide their total nutritional intake into categories. They say goodbye to meats, dairy, caffeine, and artificially flavored foods, and make sure to watch their portions – only eating when truly hungry.

While watching what you eat is a good thing and making sure your daily diet includes a well-rounded balance is ideal, eliminating such important elements – including crucial protein sources from animal products – is trouble.

The popular Atkins diet stirred up quite a “diet frenzy” by calling for very limited consumption of carbohydrates. While fans found they lost weight on the diet, as with so many others, they packed on the pounds once they stopped adhering to its strict guidelines.

“I would never recommend a low-carb diet, you just don’t have the energy,” says Yuschak. “There are so many diets out there because people try one and it fails, they try another one and it fails. People lose weight and put it back on because they haven’t learned anything.”

Just as a healthy diet will not sculpt your body without the toning effects of exercise, your body won’t transform and produce dramatic results without a healthy diet. The good news is that a “diet” doesn’t have to be painful. You can choose your favorite fruits, low-fat cheeses and yogurts, and even enjoy a great steak dinner now and then. The key is moderation.

A healthy diet will not only flatter your figure, it can increase your longevity, your performance in sports, your energy levels, and overall quality of life.
