Loverboy formed in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, in 1978, when vocalist Mike Reno was introduced to guitarist Paul Dean. Just two years later, their self-titled debut album was released and eventually sold more than 2 million copies in the United States and 4 million worldwide, reaching multi-platinum status.

Loverboy’s other multi-platinum albums include “Get Lucky” (1981), “Keep It Up” (1983), and “Lovin’ Every Minute of It” (1985), while “Wildside” (1987) reached gold status. Loverboy’s latest album, “Unfinished Business,” was released in 2014. In total, Loverboy has sold more than 10 million albums.

“Turn Me Loose” (1980) was Loverboy’s first hit from its debut album and reached No. 6 on Billboard’s U.S. Mainstream Rock charts. “Working for the Weekend” followed in 1981 and became Loverboy’s biggest hit, earning a No. 2 chart status.

Loverboy’s other top-10 singles include “Hot Girls in Love” (1983), “Lovin’ Every Minute of It” (1985), “This Could Be the Night” (1986) and “Notorious” (1987).

Loverboy includes original members Reno, Dean, Matt Frenette (drums) and Doug Johnson (keyboards), as well as Ken “Spider” Sinnaeve (bass). The group has toured with other rock legends such as Journey, Bob Seger, Cheap Trick, ZZ Top, Kansas and Def Leppard.

“When we do live shows these days, I notice the songs have come to a better place,” Reno says. “We’re playing them a little differently, but the catalyst is still the same. We live these songs – they’re part of our DNA, and they’re part of a lot of people’s DNA. They send us a lot of love and we end up loving them back, so it’s just a big love-fest, really.”
