Saint-Gobain Seals Exhibits at Valve World Germany Expo, Focusing on Critical Valve Applications

Garden Grove, CA, October 28, 2018 --(PR.com)-- Saint-Gobain Seals announced that their last oil and gas tradeshow for the year will be in Germany at the Valve World Conference & Expo, where they will showcase at Hall 3, Booth #B88, their range of bespoke and advanced OmniSeal® spring-energized seals used for critical valve applications. The expo, which is held at its usual venue in Düsseldorf, will be from November 27 to 29 this year.

The manufacturing and design engineering business will concentrate on sharing its knowledge of sealing solutions for a large variety of increasingly demanding valve applications such as cryogenic, fugitive emissions, high pressure and high temperature. Their OmniSeal® product line was introduced over 30 years ago in the oil and gas industry as a reliable replacement for elastomeric seals. Since this time, the business has been able to support their customers through close research and development, which has resulted in the development of a pre-validation process and transversal cryogenic platform. The latest expansion of the R&D laboratory at the Kontich, Belgium manufacturing site, has strengthened their value by offering focused customer testing and improved time-to-market process.

The R&D laboratory is designed with physical and virtual application testing capabilities in order to replicate customer conditions and provide the best solution compliant with most stringent industry standards for challenging applications, which include:

HPHT (high pressure, high temperature) up to 30kpsi (2,000 bar) / 200°C (392°F) compliant with API 6A PR2 / API 17D test protocols
FE (fugitive emission) stem sealing solutions for on-off valves compliant with ISO15848-1 and SHELL MESC SPE 77-300
Cryogenic seat seal for trunnion-mounted ball valves up to class #2500 (420 bar) / -196°C compliant with SHELL MESC SPE 77-300.

Currently, Saint-Gobain Seals’ sealing solutions cover a wide range of working conditions such as temperatures from -196°C to +300°C (-320.8°F to 572°) and pressures up to 2,000 bar (30kpsi). The Kontich facility also manufactures large diameter seals (up to 3,000mm / 118in) that are used for offshore applications.

Although the Valve World expo will be the last exhibition for the business this year, they did also share their expertise in other areas. In June, Saint-Gobain Seals exhibited at Fugitive Emissions Summit held in Houston June 26-27 where they were a presenter on the topic of “Qualification of polymer spring-energized seals in compliance with ISO-15848-1.” The paper aimed to explain the ongoing developments to optimize their valve stem sealing solutions for class AH requirements. They also contributed an article to the Fugitive Emissions magazine titled “Qualifying Stem Sealing Valve Solutions In Compliance with ISO-15848-1 Fugitive Emission Standard,” which addressed the challenges that oil and gas processing facilities face in order to comply with increasingly stringent regulatory and legislative requirements relating to environment, health and safety (EHS) regulations, particularly for rules governing allowable Fugitive Emissions (FE) of process stem valves.

The business was featured in Energy, Oil & Gas magazine, in which they discussed what it means to design a sealing solution right the first time, how they were adapting to trends and why there was such a high demand for sealing solutions. Fluid Handling magazine also conducted an interview with their market manager, Christophe Valdenaire, who discussed how the business was approached by a key customer to develop valve sealing guidelines that they could implement among their team. The oil and gas team has also provided several posts on their blog, The Critical PARTner; their last one discussed the four critical considerations in selecting seals: application conditions, working conditions, compliance and fugitive emissions and need for proven designs.
