Mars, PA, November 23, 2018 --(PR.com)-- As part of Mars Bank’s Step Forward campaign, three local fire units received donations from the bank for their involvement in the bank’s Step Forward for first responders Facebook contest. The Step Forward campaign is a two month celebration of first responders, active military, and veterans. It ran from September 11 to November 11, Veterans Day.

The contest was a way for the community to vote for their favorite first responder unit. Over 20 police, fire, and emergency service units that serve the Mars Bank banking centers participated. Individuals could vote once per day and over 400 votes were cast. The winning units were:
- West Deer Volunteer Fire Company #3 which received the most votes,
- North Hampton Volunteer Fire Department which was runner-up, and
- Middlesex Volunteer Fire Company, which won the random drawing of all units who received votes.
- West Deer #3 received a $500 donation while North Hampton and Middlesex each were awarded $250 from Mars Bank.

The campaign now shifts to celebrating active military and veterans. Individuals can post a thank you or tribute messages to first responders or veterans. The public is also encouraged to donate to and share the GoFundMe drive that benefits Veterans in Need of Butler County. The campaign culminated with the fundraiser at the Veterans Day celebration in Butler on November 12.
