NBA Veteran Hosts NYC Boys Varsity Basketball Game

New York, NY, February 01, 2019 --(PR.com)-- NBA Veteran Smush Parker returns to Newtown High School.

NBA Veteran and Newtown High School Alum, William "Smush" Parker was born with a basketball. Most known for his role as the starting point guard for the Los Angeles Lakers, Smush played for various teams including the Cleveland Cavaliers, Detroit Pistons, Phoenix Suns, Miami Heat, and the Los Angeles Clippers. Throughout his 16-year professional basketball career, the game of basketball has allowed Smush the opportunity to experience a copious number of countries, cultures, and people including Greece, China, Russia, Dominican Republic, Iran, Mongolia, Tunisia, Morocco and Venezuela. These experiences have evoked a passion to use his platform to create a more fair, just world that elevates the humanity in us all.

On February 1st, 2019 Smush is returning to Newtown High School to catch the boys’ varsity squad in action. The Pioneers tip at 4:30pm and will be making history as the first team to play with the official Smush Parker Basketball. This will be an exciting event as they honor one of their own. Smush will be available for autographs and pictures.

Smush Parker Elite was established in 2017 which led to the development of Smush Insp1res, a not-for-profit corporation, in 2018. This has afforded children of all ages the opportunity to learn from Smush's experiences obtained over the last 16 years of professional basketball. S.P.E. camps and clinics, while focusing on fundamental basketball, are unique as he is passionate about inspiring young athletes to believe in themselves, while imparting his knowledge of the game and the game of life. Through the instruction of teamwork, Smush addresses the many social issues that children face today while establishing an anti-bullying policy.
