“Advancement of the Arts” Luncheon Benefits Local Schools’ Art Programs and Students

The folks at the League are planning their 12th annual “Advancement for the Arts” luncheon, which will be held on Saturday, March 30, 2019, at 11:00am, at the Lost Lake Country Club, 8300 SE Fazio Drive in Hobe Sound. This is their annual fundraiser to support part of their mission statement, which is to “support young artists through special funding, scholarships and youth programs.”

Hobe Sound, FL, February 16, 2019 --(PR.com)-- In a time when school budgets for non-academic classes are drained by the end of the first grading period, local art teachers are increasingly appreciative of organizations like the Hobe Sound Fine Arts League (HSFAL) and their efforts to raise money for local art programs.

The HSFAL, previously known as The Art League of Hobe Sound, was established in 1984, and is a 501 C(3) non-profit organization. It’s the only art league in the area with a permanent gallery, located in the Winn Dixie Plaza at Bridge Road and US 1.

Proceeds from the luncheon are distributed directly to five local public school art departments: Hobe Sound Elementary, Sea Wind Elementary, Warfield Elementary, Murray Middle and South Fork High School. Last year, the League raised enough to donate $1000 to all five schools, which greatly enhanced their art budget. “Being able to provide enough funds to provide the students consumables like paint, paper, colored pencils and chalk for the school year makes us so happy. It’s why we do what we do,” said Susan Fowler, one of the luncheon organizers and featured artists for the art raffle. There will be a drawing for works by Fowler, as well as other local artists Ed Douglas, Carol Kepp, Celine Newell, Donna Baker and Brenda Leigh.

In addition to the luncheon and raffle, there will also be a silent auction, featuring donations from many local businesses. Tickets are $35 per person, or $240 for a table for eight. The reservation deadline is March 23rd. For more information on the luncheon, donations, or to join the League, call 772-546-2946.
