Holy Child Academy Presents "Shrek Jr.," March 15-16

Drexel Hill, PA, March 13, 2019 --(PR.com)-- Holy Child Academy is "ogre the moon" to present "Shrek Jr.," based on the Oscar-winning DreamWorks Animation film and original Broadway musical by David Lindsay-Abaire and Jeanine Tesori. The Academy’s "Shrek Jr." production tells the beloved tale of the original Dreamworks movie and children’s book of the same name by William Steig. Performance times are: Friday, March 15 at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, March 16 at 1 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. at Holy Child Academy, 475 Shadeland Avenue, Drexel Hill, PA. Tickets are available online at www.HolyChildAcademy.com/SpringMusical or at the door.

Holy Child Academy students in grades 1-8 will perform the school musical, which transports audiences from Shrek’s swamp with an array of beloved fairytale creatures, to the kingdom of Duloc where Lord Farquaad plots his plans to woo the princess. In this offbeat heroic tale, Shrek must rescue princess Fiona from a tall tower guarded by a fire-breathing dragon so she can marry Lord Farquaad. Aided by his sidekick Donkey, the team experience wacky hijinks as they make their way through the forest, but not everything is as it seems with the princess. Ultimately, a romance blooms, a secret is revealed and the power of true love and beauty prevails to give our characters a happily ever after.

"Shrek Jr." is directed by Nate Golden, a teaching artist at the Walnut Street Theatre since 2011 and artistic director of the Philadelphia-based Nightcap Cabaret since 2014. He has worked with many Philadelphia theatres including Walnut Street Theatre, Arden Theatre, Delaware Theatre Company, Media Theatre, Bristol Riverside Theatre, The Wilma Theatre and Theatre Horizon.
