E911 Service for VoIP Offered by 911 ETC

Everett, WA, March 28, 2008 --(PR.com)-- 911 ETC, Inc. announces V-911™ Connect, which tracks the location of IP phones and routes 911 calls to the public safety answering point. The solution provides an organization with an efficient and cost-effective way to manage its E-911 database, whether VoIP or Hybrid PBX/VoIP. The service can track the location of IP phones both inside and outside of the organization.

When a 911 call is placed, the enterprise call server routes the call with the location of caller to the public safety answering point. Rather than utilizing a trunk, the solution uses an organization’s wide area network to deliver 911 calls. The service works with any type of phone that is included on the enterprise IP network, to include digital, analog, IP hardphones, softphones, and SIP phones. 911 ETC offers the additional option of onsite emergency notification for large organizations that also operate an internal public safety point. Billing is monthly and is based on the number of phones utilizing the service.

The 911 Modernization and Public Safety Act of 2007 is a bill being considered by the House Energy and Commerce Committee. The bill would ensure that people using VoIP are able to reach 911 operators, and would require the same liability protections that other telecommunications providers have to VoIP providers.
