Safety Training in School District 89

Maywood, IL, May 09, 2019 --(PR.com)-- Student safety is a top priority in School District 89. The District regularly practices emergency drills and procedures with staff and emergency responders to ensure that they are prepared in the event of an emergency. On Friday, May 10, 2019, the Maywood, Melrose Park, Broadview and Bellwood Police and Fire Departments, in collaboration with the school district will be conducting a safety training and exercise at Lincoln Elementary School in Maywood. This event has been planned on an Institute Day so there will be no students in attendance or involved in this specific training exercise.

During the training anyone near the school will see a large presence of emergency responders and may hear loud noises related to the training and exercises taking place. Training will begin at approximately 8:30 a.m. and end in the early afternoon. The training may also lead to brief street closures at the intersection of Chicago Avenue and 9th Avenue. Again this is a planned training that will involve members from every local police and fire department.
