Access Sports Medicine & Orthopaedics Announces 2019 Student Athlete Scholarship Winner

Exeter, NH, June 17, 2019 --(PR.com)-- Hannah Peterson, a graduate of Pinkerton Academy Class of 2019, is the winner of Access Sports Medicine & Orthopaedics 2019 "Access to Education" Student Athlete Scholarship. Ms. Peterson was chosen from thirteen applicants and will receive a $3,000 scholarship.

“We were immediately impressed with Hannah’s application for the Access Sports Medicine & Orthopaedic Student Athlete Scholarship as it showed such maturity and strength for a woman her age. She inspired us with her words; 'it is not always about participating physically in one's sport, it is about throwing your heart into what you love, no matter the circumstance.' Her profound sense of self and determination made it apparent very quickly that she is the right person to win this year’s scholarship. On behalf of the entire Access Sports Medicine & Orthopaedics team we want to congratulate Hannah and wish her the best as she embarks on her next 'race' in life; college.” - Joshua A. Siegel M.D.

While at Pinkerton Academy, Ms. Peterson was a member of the Pats Peak Alpine Ski Team.

In February of 2019, she raced her very last race of her junior skiing career at the NHIAA D1 State Championship. As her team was in the running for first, she tore her ACL during her first race. Having never previously been injured in a sport, this was devastating. She faced great difficulties in coping with the negative end of her skiing career and the guilt of her team losing the championship. However, she came to learn that her injury does not define her as an athlete nor as an individual. She still participated on her ski team by cheering on her teammates at races, all while working hard to return back for next season in full health.

Hannah will be attending The University of Connecticut in the fall to study Biomedical Engineering.
