Atlas Ergonomics to Provide Free Office Ergonomics Software with Nationwide Support

Grand Haven, MI, April 02, 2008 --(PR.com)-- In its ongoing mission to improve health and safety for office workers nationwide, Atlas Ergonomics announced today that it will make its web-based risk assessment and training software available free to U.S. organizations with 10,000 or more office employees. Atlas does ask that clients exclusively use its nationwide network of physical therapists, occupational therapists and other ergonomics service providers when on-site support is needed. However, no minimum level of service is required.

“We realize, this is a revolutionary step in providing ergonomics support,” says Atlas president Jim Landsman. “But Atlas has never shied away from bold action. By providing the software at no cost, Atlas can help more employees prevent injury and make having an ergonomic program a simpler business decision.”

Within the Atlas program, employees complete a simple, 10-minute risk assessment that pinpoints pertinent information on the employee, his or her work, and the environment. Each employee then receives personalized, easy-to-follow recommendations based on the assessment, along with general ergonomic education. Employers can review employee risk factors and decide if further support is required. The software helps record and track follow-up on recommendations.

If on-site support is required, Atlas offers a network of trained and tested health and ergonomics professionals in more than 1,000 US cities. Atlas service providers work on-site to verify risk, identify and implement solutions, tailor workstations to individual employees, and educate employees on how to adjust their furniture for maximum comfort, safety and productivity. Finally, the service provider submits a comprehensive on-line report to the client for internal use.

"Software in general has benefits, but we know that people in real pain need to see real people," Landsman said. "Our software gathers and manages data, and helps address the needs of low- and moderate-risk employees. However, high-risk employees need human interaction. Our experience has proven that personal contact improves situational understanding, defines more effective solutions, and makes positive change more likely. And perhaps best of all, the employee feels cared for."

"Caring employers have long struggled with the price of software, and with difficulty finding high-quality, consistent on-site ergonomics support." Mr. Landsman went on to say, "With this approach, we provide a solution to both problems. Employees are healthier and more productive, and employers are provided a simple and cost effective solution.”

For companies with fewer than 10,000 employees or with their own ergonomics support staff, Atlas offers customized programs that include competitive software pricing and service providers to address remote locations or employees that require external expertise.

Atlas plans further network expansion, driven by client or geographical need. Their goal is to have a service provider located within 30 minutes of all clients’ employees to minimize response time and travel costs.
