New Study Shows That Bug Bombs Are Ineffective; Go-Forth Pest Control Offers Other Effective Solutions for Pest Control

High Point, NC, August 11, 2019 --(PR.com)-- Recent studies by NC State University spell bad news for pest control DIYers - “bug bombs” are ineffective for reducing and eliminating pest populations.

Total release foggers, or “bug bombs,” work by spraying a pesticide into the air of a pest-infested home. The pesticide shoots into the air, before gradually settling around the residence, with hopes of eliminating all unwanted guests. Unfortunately, according to the NC State study, the bombs only seem to reach and settle on floors, counter tops, and other surface areas. By doing so, they ignore the places pests tend to hide, such as cracks, crevices, and tucked-away spaces. For example, under the kitchen stove, or behind the refrigerator.

Researchers also found that the "technique" used by bug bombs to release pesticides through the air and allowing them to settle on any exposed surface, can cause humans to be exposed to unhealthy chemicals even after the bombs have finished. After a full month from deploying the bombs, pesticide levels were 34% higher in houses using bug bombs than in non-exposed homes.

This is especially bad news for North Carolinian pest control DIYers, as the state experienced record rainfall in 2018 and parts of 2019. Heavy rainfall has been proven to increase the population of mosquitoes and other pests. Combine the rain with the summer heat, and the conditions are just damp enough to be perfect for pests!

Luckily, there are alternative options to bug bombs. Reliable DIY pest prevention techniques are available. The pest control industry wants to educate the public on smart, safe pest elimination. As a member of the EPA’s Pesticide Environmental Stewardship Program (PESP), which aims to “reduce the risks from pests and pesticides by playing a major role in ensuring human health and environmental safety,” Go-Forth Pest Control shares this goal. Some examples Go-Forth recommends for home pest prevention are sealing off all cracks and crevices around the house, eliminating any pest food sources, and covering all trash cans and waste-containers.

“Over the years, we at Go-Forth have continually updated and reviewed our methods to ensure we provide the very best in pest control. That being said, Go-Forth always has and always will use the smallest, safest amount of pest control products to ensure we get the job done. Our experts have specialized equipment that allow us to attack the areas that bugs go, but people do not. Also, we focus on exterior pest control techniques to keep pests from ever making it indoors,” says Chase Hazelwood, owner of Go-Forth Pest Control.
