Local Artist Builds Giant 9 Ft. Pineapple for Secret Corp. Client from 100% Recycle Materials

Oak Park, IL, August 16, 2019 --(PR.com)-- LaGrange Artist and Owner of Studio 928, Cheryl Vargas, is celebrating the completion of one of her most unique works to date, commissioned by a secret corporate client.

Dubbed La Gran Pina Negra (The Great Black Pineapple), the sculpture is an 8 ft., 6" giant black pineapple weighing more than 350 lbs and comprised of 100% recyclable/renewable materials – among which there are 275 empty soda bottles and more than 14,000 feet of copper wire.

“The client was looking for an 'icebreaker' art experience that could be an incorporated element of the final sculpture; to me, the copper stick men fit the bill,” Vargas said. The impressive sculpture was a collaborative art experience between Vargas and the corporate client's team members, vendors and customers who crafted 150 stick men made from copper during their first annual conference in San Diego. Each stick man was incorporated into the sculpture which was recently completed and crated for shipping to its new home in Phoenix, AZ.

The Great Black Pineapple is the first of its kind, created especially for Vargas’ secret client. The project was inspired by the Antiguan Black Pineapple, said to be the "World’s Sweetest Pineapple."

The sculpture is representative of the company’s logo and also consistent with the drawings and renderings of the Antiguan Black Pineapple.

Explaining the motivation for the project, Vargas said: “I wanted to represent the company's 'vision for the future' as the inner light that shines from the core of the sculpture. The exterior of the sculpture represents the collaborators and industries who interact with the company and the 'copper pineapple people' represent the network of people who create the success of the organization.”

The Great Black Pineapple will be displayed at the company’s headquarters in Phoenix where it will be displayed as a permanent reminder of the value of teamwork.

Vargas’ Studio 928 also hosts collaborative art experiences in group acrylic painting and mural projects that individuals and companies can then display. For more information and tons of photos, please email cheryl@studio928.net.
