Oghma Creative Media Publishes 16-Year-Old Author Alice Cai's Debut Book, "Crowned: The Legend of the Three Bears"

Bentonville, AR, August 28, 2019 --(PR.com)-- Oghma Creative Media is pleased to announce the publication of 16-year-old author Alice Cai's debut children's book, "Crowned: The Legend of the Three Bears."

Cai has been writing since she was 8, and Oghma contracted the book in 2017. “We were very pleased to have the chance to publish such a talented young author's first book,” says Cyndy Miller, Oghma Creative Media's Editorial Director. “It's a carefully crafted, middle-grade book about family, loyalty, and friendship, told from the perspective of three young bear princes.”

In the book, good King Alfred of the Bear Kingdom passes away, leaving behind a powerful magic jewel, three young sons... and no guidance as to which of them should take the throne. Each of the bear princes has their own unique set of flaws, as well as a burning desire to see themselves upon the throne, but none of them have yet to distinguish themselves as a leader. While they prepare for battle, they fail to realize they are only pawns in a much larger game. There are others with their eyes on the gem King Alfred left behind, and they will stop at nothing to control its powers. Can the princes put aside their differences and come together for the good of their kingdom? Or will the forces of greed and selfishness undo everything their father worked so hard to build?

"My passion for stories began when I started producing audiobooks of classics at 6 years old," says Cai. “Inspired by these classics, I began writing stories of my own. This book started as a rather long short story I wrote at a University of Arkansas writing summer camp I attended when I was 11. This was a classic fight-for-power storyline, but I decided to add a twist by making my characters animals. Using bears as my characters felt like the best choice because it provided certain humorous insights into human nature without having to deliver the entire package of human behavior at once, which would be difficult for my younger self to tackle. From the initial draft, I expanded the short story into a book, and rewrote and revised it countless times. Throughout the years that I worked on the book, I was also growing up and growing as a writer. I think my observations of people, politics, and power over the years definitely contributed to the central themes underneath the story.”

Cai is working on two more novels, one fantasy and one science fiction. One of her essays won a Best-in-Grade and national Gold Medal award from Scholastic Art and Writing Awards.

"Crowned: The Legend of the Three Bears" is available on Amazon and wherever books are sold.
