Big Noise Artist Katie Bates to Continue Her Breakout Year with "KB2"

Cincinnati, OH, September 04, 2019 --(PR.com)-- Indie pop singer-songwriter and self-taught multi-instrumentalist Katie Bates will follow-up her critically acclaimed "Filter" EP with her upcoming project "KB2" which is due out September 27th.

The Cincinnati-based artist not only has co-writing credits on "KB2," but also plays the drums, guitar, electric bass, and piano on the project, which features two songs, "Touch" and "Silent Treatment."

"These songs are way more fun than anything I have ever written. They both have such a good bop to them," says Bates.

Produced by Tony Burkhart at Blacklite Productions in Cincinnati, and by Blaire Andrew Atkinson and Tejai Moore in Atlanta, Bates explains how each song came together:

"Touch" - "I started writing back in February. I had this bass line in my head, so first I tried it on the piano. A couple days later I did it on the bass and it was pretty cool. Then I started playing my drums to that bass line over and over and got a pretty cool bop going with it. I wrote some lyrics to it, and originally it was going to be called 'RunnerUp.' I had a completely different chorus written for it. I took what I had written to the studio and Tony and I took my bass and drums and created a beat around that. As soon as we got to laying the chorus down all I heard in the music was ‘I just wanna touch you all over,’ and just repeated that over and over. It’s kinda crazy how big of a jumble this song was before going into the studio, and then once I got into the studio it just felt right and everything came together so quickly."

"Silent Treatment" - "I got an email one day from Tejai saying he had this song he wrote, and he thought it would be perfect for me. I fell in love with it right away, not just because it was such a fun song, but also it spoke to me, because I've been there before - when you're in a room with someone, or your significant other, just not talking, or they are ignoring you, it sucks."

Bates will be expanding on those backstories, releasing behind the scenes videos of the writing process and studio sessions via her YouTube channel, leading up to the release of "KB2."

Having recently signed with award-winning music firm Big Noise - who have worked with Christina Aguilera, The Beach Boys, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Chicago - Katie Bates is poised to take the next step in her career, and she believes "KB2" is a double-shot of pop perfection that will have listeners clamoring for more.
