National Institutes of Health Selects Eva Garland Consulting to Lead Applicant Assistance Program

EGC will provide expert coaching to hundreds of companies seeking NIH SBIR/STTR funding.

Raleigh, NC, September 23, 2019 --(PR.com)-- Eva Garland Consulting, LLC (EGC) has been awarded a five-year contract by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to administer the agency’s Applicant Assistance Program (AAP). Each year, the NIH awards approximately $1 billion in SBIR/STTR grants to small businesses developing innovative technologies. The AAP was established to increase participation in the SBIR/STTR program by individuals who are traditionally underrepresented in the biomedical sciences.

“It is a privilege to serve as a Coach for the AAP Program,” stated EGC Scientific Consultant, Dr. Tiger Xie. “It is particularly rewarding to work with entrepreneurs who have developed highly innovative technologies, but who lack the resources to develop competitive SBIR/STTR applications. Through the AAP, we are able to help companies prepare SBIR/STTR applications that are complete and responsive to the solicitation requirements.”

According to CEO, Dr. Eva Garland, “We are thrilled to establish this deeper partnership with NIH after successfully administering the AAP Pilot Program earlier this year with the National Cancer Institute (NCI). As the leading funder of biomedical research in the US, the NIH is an incredible resource for small businesses developing cutting edge technologies. We are grateful for the opportunity to assist more entrepreneurs in preparing high quality proposals to access SBIR/STTR funding.”

Four NIH agencies are participating in the AAP, including the NCI; the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI); the National Institute on Aging (NIA); and the National Institute of Neurological Disease and Stroke (NINDS). The first round of the program will begin immediately and will provide support to small businesses seeking to apply for the January 6, 2020 NIH SBIR/STTR submission window.
