“As a preeminent music editor, Curt Sobel brings decades of experience to our roster. He is known for helping filmmakers formulate and realize their musical vision, and for exceeding all expectations,” stated Director of Formosa Group’s Music Division, Leigh Kotkin. “His versatility and music acumen are also evident in his songwriting, composing and music supervision, which speaks to why he is in constant demand. I’m pleased to have Curt join our ranks; he’s a welcome addition.”
During his successful career as a music editor, working on over 130 films, his resume includes box office hits such as “Ray,” starring Jamie Foxx, “The Revenant,” starring Leonardo DiCaprio, “Nine,” starring Daniel Day-Lewis, Marion Cotillard and Penélope Cruz, “The Insider,” starring Russell Crowe and Al Pacino, and many more.
When asked about his thoughts on moving forward with Formosa Group’s Music team, Sobel said, “It’s an honor to be joining the highly acclaimed Formosa Group and finally having the opportunity to work along side incredibly talented editors, music creators and friends. Looking forward to being part of Formosa Music and excited to see what the future brings.”
Before becoming one of Hollywood’s most in-demand music editors, Sobel wrote original songs. In the late ‘70s/early ‘80s, during and after his years at the University of Michigan and studying conducting, arranging and composition at Berklee College of Music, Curt wrote and recorded his own songs, which were finally released in November 2017 as a compilation titled, STAGES.
