Experts point to the healing power of laughter and the Capital District’s comedians are setting out to prove it. Fellow comic and national headliner Mike Irwin has been diagnosed with Stage IV Bone Cancer affecting his lower jaw, neck, and lymph nodes. He is undergoing chemotherapy at Saint Mary’s Hospital in Amsterdam, NY. The Capital Region comedy community is raising money to offset Mike’s medical expenses, as well as the living expenses now encountered by Mike’s wife Esther and their four children.

For nearly thirty years, Mike has entertained audiences from coast to coast in more than 300 comedy clubs. He has made dozens of television appearances on FOX, CBS, Comedy Central, A&E, Showtime, and even ESPN. Mike has had a major influence on comedy in the North Country, through comedy classes, improv lessons, local radio, and many fundraisers. Mike is also known in “The Biz” as a top-flight writer, having penned jokes for The Tonight Show With Jay Leno, Politically Incorrect With Bill Maher, The Chevy Chase Show, as well as top comics such as George Wallace. If you haven’t seen Mike, chances are you’ve heard his jokes.

Your laughter can help heal. Join the Capital Region’s top comedians, including Eddie Clark, Vinnie Mark, and Jodi Weiner, plus special guests, for two nights of comedy designed to combat cancer. All proceeds from ticket sales will directly benefit Mike Irwin and his family. Enjoy special shows on Friday, April 18 and Friday, May 16 at 9 pm at Sweet Basil in Queensbury, NY for this great cause. Arrive early to enjoy a buffet dinner included in the $25 ticket price.
