Andrew Vance shared that their center’s recent work with Senator Bennet’s (D-CO) office on critical infrastructure cybersecurity legislation, Senate Bill 5240, influenced their research to evaluate blockchain technologies within the energy sector. Taylor Vance said, “Sharing of industry proven best practices, while collectively advancing the cybersecurity capabilities of all sizes of electric utilities, will especially unify and align the industry towards a more resilient infrastructure.” Their paper won the Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University Innovation Award and the authors were invited to speak on the Keynote Plenary Panel about challenges and opportunities to use blockchain-based technologies to protect countries against the growing threat against critical infrastructure.
