Local Martial Arts Instructor Raises Money for Indianapolis School System

Master Instructor James Theros, teaches a special after school enrichment program for the students at Hornet Park Elementary School in Beech Grove, Indiana and donating 100% of the proceeds to the school to help with playground expansion for the kids.

Indianapolis, IN, April 18, 2008 --(PR.com)-- “It’s my responsibility to do whatever I can to help our community. Where better to start than in our own school system,” says Master Theros, founder of Level 10 Martial Arts College on Indy’s south side. “My program is a double win. The students who participate learn how to feel better about themselves and learn some valuable self-defense skills, and the school brings in some extra funding to help make their school a better environment for the kids.”

Here is the basic idea of how the program works:

1. Students attend a special class with Master Theros during their gym class to learn about the 3 traits of leadership and how to apply this to their school work and relationships.
2. Interested students register for the program by paying $30 to Hornet Park Elementary.
3. Master Theros comes in after school for 45 minutes for a duration of 3 weeks.
4. Each student receives a White Karate Belt (donated by Master James Theros)
5. The students are taught some basics of martial arts (all non-violent skills)
6. Each class the students are sent home with a small assignment to be completed. For each assignment completed the students will receive a special reward on their belt.
7. Students are encourage to earn “extra credit stripes” on their belts and engage in a friendly competition to see which student can get the most stripes on their belt by graduation.
8. Upon completion of the program each student receives a diploma for completing the program and is given a free complimentary martial arts uniform and a free membership to Master Theros’ school for helping with the fundraiser.
9. The students return to their classes with more respect for their teachers, parents and classmates and come away with valuable life-skills that will benefit them for the rest of their lives.

Master James Theros has been helping the Indianapolis and Beech Grove school system for nearly 10 years by helping to raise money for them and by helping to mentor kids into becoming more respectful, more focused and more self-disciplined at school and at home.
