Independent Rescue Service and West Frankfort Rescue Join Forces and Begin Recruitment Drive

Regional search and rescue service joins forces with local EMS agency to better serve the local and regional community. The joint service is beginning a recruitment drive to bring in new rescuers before going operational.

Frankfort, ME, April 22, 2008 --(PR.com)-- The Independent Rescue Service has joined forces with the West Frankfort Rescue to better serve the community, both locally and regionally. The two services have combined resources and personnel to improve their operations.

The newly combined service is in a recruiting drive currently to bring new rescuers on board. They are currently looking for individuals from the region who are interested in helping the service grow. The service, which will soon be operational, will conduct wilderness search and rescue, water rescue, urban rescue operations, and other rescue modalities.

Individuals do not need prior training. The service needs individuals with interests in wilderness search, scuba diving, high angle pursuits, logistics, support functions, and those who are not sure where their interests lie.

West Frankfort Rescue and the Independent Rescue Service currently have, collectively, rescuers who come from a variety of backgrounds. They include; firefighters, EMTs, security professionals, teachers, construction workers, students, retail workers, and office personnel. They hope to add to this eclectic mix with the current recruitment push.

The group has been training to prepare for search and rescue operations of all kinds. Some of the recent trainings included a survival overnight camp-out, a day of floating through the rapids for swift water rescue, traipsing through the woods for a night rescue scenario, and working their way through a simulated collapsed structure then dropping out a second story window, to name a few.
