Quantum3D Appoints New CEO

Silicon Valley veteran Michael L. D’Addio to succeed founder Ross Q. Smith.

San Jose, CA, April 29, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Quantum3D, Inc., a leading provider of Commercial-off-the-Shelf (COTS), open-architecture, real-time visual computing solutions, today announced that its board of directors has elected Michael L. D’Addio as the company’s new chief executive officer (CEO).

Gordon Campbell, Quantum3D’s chairman of the board, marked Mr. D’Addio’s arrival by saying, “Michael is a talented and seasoned executive whose unparalleled leadership expertise will enable us to accelerate the growth of the company.”

Michael has more than three decades of experience building successful companies. He founded two companies—Corvus Systems and Videonics—and subsequently took them public in 1981 and 1994, respectively. He then served as chairman and CEO of a third public company, Focus Enhancements, until 2002. Still a member of the board of directors at Focus Enhancements, Michael’s career has revolved around enabling companies to maximize their customer and shareholder value. He also serves on the National Council of Northeastern University and holds an A.B. in mathematics from that institution.

“Quantum3D has tremendous assets and talented people. The company’s market-leading products give us a considerable edge as we look to deliver the next wave of strategic solutions for our customers. I look forward to taking on this new and exciting role by working closely with the senior management team to enhance value for all our customers,” stated the new CEO.

Ross Q. Smith has resigned to pursue other business interests. “Ross was a company founder, president and a longtime member of its board. We thank him for his technical guidance, his market understanding and the dedication that he showed when transitioning Quantum3D from a developer of point-product visual computing systems to an industry leader in open-architecture, real-time visual computing solutions. We appreciate his accomplishments and wish him success in his new pursuits,” said Gordon Campbell.

D’Addio’s arrival follows on the heels of many of the recent wins for Quantum3D's Embedded Visual Computing (EVC) solutions, including awards from U.S. Army Natick Soldier Center for Future Force Warrior Increment 2, Appian Technology PLC for Stinger Intelligent ANPR Camera and Cross Match for USN Deployed Biometric System. In addition to marshaling the company’s EVC solutions, D’Addio will focus his management on maintaining Quantum3D’s leadership in Image Generation solutions, which are currently being used in a number of simulation and training applications, including the USAF KC-10 and KC-135 Boom Operator Trainers, USN TH-57C helicopter, F-35 JSF ACS and F/A-22 Raptor ACS (Lockheed Martin), and T-38 ATD and USAF F-15E Mission Training Centers (Boeing).
