Annual Banquet Set for Local Conservation Group

Raleigh, NC, April 30, 2008 --(PR.com)-- The Triangle Chapter of the Coastal Conservation Association, a non-profit organization, will host its Annual Banquet on Thursday, May 8 at 6 p.m. at the Wake County Shrine Club in Raleigh.

The event will feature dinner and an open bar, as well as auctions and raffles for fishing and hunting trips, limited edition prints and high-quality fishing equipment and tackle. Advance tickets are available for individuals, couples and corporate groups, and include admission, dinner, open bar and a one-year CCA membership.

Dave Hawkins, Triangle Chapter president, says the goal of the banquet is to raise money, but also to have a fun evening. “The setting, decorations, and food are as nice as any banquet you will attend, but we have a relaxed and festive atmosphere where everyone feels comfortable,” he said. “The items at auction and raffle appeal mostly to fishermen, but there are trips and other items that appeal to anyone. For instance, we have a week in Aruba with airfare included, dinners at area restaurants, and items for the home, as well as fishing trips.”

All proceeds from the event will fund the CCA’s efforts to enhance North Carolina’s marine resources. Currently, the group is participating in several initiatives, including the Oyster Recycling Program to help restore the state’s oyster population and provide more fish habitat; several fisheries management plans, highlighted by a successful email campaign advocating a plan for stricter commercial catch limits and net placement rules; and a stand against destructive gear in North Carolina’s waters.
