Non-Profit Approval Shows Delray CC Goes the Distance for Debtors

Government approval of Delray Credit Counseling’s 501(c)(3) status allows the agency to continue to lead its clients to debt freedom.

Delray Beach, FL, May 01, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Delray Credit Counseling announced today that it received IRS approval as a 501c3 non-profit organization on February 15 of this year. Few companies now receive 501(c)(3) status approval. Only a handful of companies have been approved in the last 18 months.

A troubled economy leads many consumers to seek debt relief. In the past, bankruptcy was the easy answer, but an October 2005 law demands that debtors consult with a credit counselor before they can file a bankruptcy petition. However, the IRS received hundreds of consumer complaints about credit counseling agencies (CCAs) that used their non-profit status to line their pockets with debtor dollars. These complaints prompted the IRS to audit credit counseling agencies nationwide and resulted in many company closures and non-profit status revocations.

As one of the few companies that have maintained its non-profit status over the last 5 years, this achievement says something about DCC, its commitment to excellence and the positive ways in which the agency helps consumers.

Delray Credit Counseling is dedicated to providing consumers with the financial education and resources they need to gain control of their finances. Over the last five years, the company has been diligent in efforts to modify, enhance, and improve its educational efforts. DCC provides comprehensive educational materials on subjects including budgeting, credit reports, credit scores, and understanding finance charges. On complex topics such as taxes and home mortgages, Delray Credit Counseling offers reputable resources that provide consumers with the answers they need.

DCC goes the distance for debtors by offering free ongoing credit counseling services and educational materials, regardless of whether or not the consumers enroll in the DCC debt management plan program. Delray Credit Counseling also offers free educational seminars to the public.
