Clarksville, TN, May 13, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Summer Showcase Ideal for S.E.A. Hopefuls.

For five years, independent artists in urban entertainment has had an opportunity to be honored and recognized by their peers, thanks to the Southern Entertainment Awards.

The Southern Entertainment Awards, (S.E.A.) held in Tunica, MS. Covers 11 Southern States and features conferences coordinated by Rap Coalition founder Wendy Day. Past shows have had attendance of up to 3000 people, including such performers as David Banner, Dj Drama, as well as label executives from New York and California. Awards are given for “Best Urban Magazine,” “Industry Power Player,”and “Indy R&B Artist of the Year” to name a few.

This Summer, artists have an opportunity to take the stage during the Summer Showcase Series produced by Statusj in partnership with the S.E.A. The Summer Showcase Series will feature performers competing for a prize package worth up to $10,000, which includes a performance slot during the S.E.A. Showcase in Tunica. “This is an incredible opportunity for an independent artist; not only will they receive a tremendous prize package, they will also receive essential tools to further their career,” says Showcase Producer Jacqueline Lisenby.

Some of the prizes within the prize package include a press kit by Urbane Imagery, Mix tape inclusion and rotation by DJ Whitey, internet radio play with royalties courtesy of USAMixRap/Unsigned Artist Mix, studio time and more.

Attendees of the Summer Showcase Series can also nominate their favorites during the Showcase at computer stations that will be set up specifically for that purpose. “This is an opportune time for an artist to showcase their skills in front of industry professionals, as well as proving why they should be nominated,” says showcase Co-Producer Sherena Simons, “potentially, a performer could leave the Showcase with 100 nominations from one day,” she adds.

Special guest judges for the Showcase are S.E.A. Co-Founder Janiro Hawkins, Bryce Page of Lovenoise and S.E.A. nominee, DJ Whitey. The Showcase will be held in Clarksville, TN.
