Watchung Bookstores Invites Stephen Della Valle for Book Signing
Oak Ridge Press author Stephen Della Valle will be signing copies of his book at Watchung Bookstores in Montclair, NJ, from 6pm – 7pm on June 26.
Oak Ridge, NJ, May 10, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Stephen Della Valle, President of Turning Point Rehabilitation Center was recently invited to sign copies of his new book Rising Above the Influence: A True Story About Alcohol, Drugs and Recovery at Watchung Bookstores in Montclair, New Jersey, on June 26 from 6pm to 7pm.
The signing will be following the author’s guest appearance on One on One with Emmy-award winning anchor Steve Adubato the night before.
In Rising Above the Influence, Stephen candidly recounts his indoctrination into the world of substance abuse as a young teenager; and the desperate, sometimes morbidly comical situations he endured to support his heavy addictions to heroin, prescription drugs, cocaine and alcohol.
Since his commitment to getting sober and turning his life around over twenty years ago, Stephen wants to share his story in hopes people can see how destructive the substance abuse lifestyle is.
“I believe my book can help people who have struggled with addiction or knows somebody that has,” says Stephen. “Through the radio and television interviews I can spread awareness of the dangers of substance abuse and serve as living proof that recovery programs work.”
In a recent radio interview Stephen discussed his view on an epidemic which is plaguing teenagers throughout the country.
“Recent statistics indicate that the use of prescription and over–the-counter drugs have tremendously increased within the past year amongst young adults and teenagers,” says Stephen. “These kids are lulled into thinking prescription drugs are safe and not as hazardous as illegal ‘street’ drugs such as cocaine or heroin—simply because there is no drug dealer involved.”
Rising Above the Influence is Stephen’s honest and inspiring account of the depths one man can fall to—and the heights he can achieve if only he reaches out a hand for help.
