Freehold, NJ, May 14, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Manuel T. Banzon, MD, an orthopedic surgeon in Freehold, New Jersey, was very pleased to share the Total Knee Replacement success stories at his public lecture, “Computer-Assisted, Minimally Invasive, Total Knee Replacement,” at CentraState’s Ambulatory Campus Conference Center on April 24th. He was the first to perform a computer-assisted knee replacement surgery at CentraState Medical Center using the CI System by iOrthopedics.

During the free public lecture, Dr. Banzon explained the advances in knee replacement surgery and the significant benefits of computer-assisted technology. The computer system uses cameras, tracking software, and specialized instruments, “mapping” the patients bones and ligaments during surgery. This visualization enables the surgeon to plan incisions and align the implant more precisely. The short-term results are smaller incisions and faster healing. In the long-term, patients are more likely to have satisfying outcomes with longer-lasting implants and fewer complications due to the more precise alignment.

Dr. Banzon began his orthopedic practice in Freehold in 1979 with the philosophy of providing high-quality and compassionate patient care. Locally, he pioneered the use of minimally invasive surgery (MIS) in conjunction with computer-assisted surgery (CAS) in total joint replacement. He has presented several well-received lectures during the past year in the Monmouth County area and enjoys dispersing the “good news” related to advancements in joint health.
