Successful Clinical Implementation Team Building

Healthcare providers share insights with KLAS into how to fill implementation team gaps and build successful teams. They share what worked for them and offer advice on how to improve the process.

Orem, UT, May 19, 2008 --(PR.com)-- As implementation roles change, healthcare providers assume more of a lead role and increase utilization of application vendors with the changes in today’s healthcare marketplace and rollouts of many new software systems. When looking to bring in external for implementation, healthcare providers are faced with a myriad of questions about how to build their team, how to divide responsibilities, and how to make decisions in the best way possible for their organization.

KLAS recently published its Clinical Implementation Services report which focuses on the intricacies involved in the clinical implementation process and examines how providers chose to fill the gaps in their implementation team in order to meet their organization’s implementation goals.

What strategies were successful, and, knowing what they know now, what would healthcare providers do differently if they were to begin the clinical implementation process again? Thirty-six percent of participants stated that their overall expectations were met or exceeded by the implementation vendor they chose to work with. Forty-five percent of respondents recommended that their peers be more selective in establishing their evaluation team and more rigorous in their decision making.

Vendors included in the study were Accenture, ACS, Cerner, CTG, Deloitte Consulting, Eclipsys, Epic, FCG, GE, IBM, Healthlink, McKesson, Perot Systems, and Siemens.
