The Wishing Flower and Kandies by Karen Join Forces to Create Sweet Temptations

The Wishing Flower, an original fairy tale for children, is to become a sweet treat. Plans are in the works to turn the pictures from the children’s book into cookies and candy.

Cleveland, OH, May 18, 2008 --(PR.com)-- PM Moon Publishers, Limited (http://www.pmmoonpublishers.com) announced today that they have entered into agreement with the Chocolatier Kandies By Karen (http://www.karenskandy2.com ) to produce branded cookies, chocolate candies, and theme birthday cakes for their children’s books.

Their first offering will be based on The Wishing Flower written and illustrated by Mosetta M. Penick Phillips-Cermak, Ph.D.

“I am delighted,” said Dr. Penick Phillips-Cermak. “It will be so much fun to see my images as delicious cookies and other confectionaries. “I love her chocolate, and I have never been much of a chocolate person.”

Karen Douglas, the owner and chocolatier has had her own catering firm for the past 35 years, and has been the creator of homemade gourmet chocolates for more than ten (10) years. A graduate of Cuyahoga Community College (OH) Culinary Program, she has taken advance classes in desserts and chocolate for years.

Twenty-five years ago she won first prize in a cookie recipe contest, where she and her cookies were featured on WEWS- TV Channel 5 in Cleveland Ohio.

“My process contains no additives and is all natural. When I first read Mosetta’s book I thought it was so sweet, that it was only reasonable that we turn the flower into cookies for all those times when the child and parent are sharing this story,” said Karen.

Written and designed to promote positive feelings of self-esteem and to reassure children that they are loved, “The Wishing Flower” has received favorable reviews from the academic community. Teachers can download free lesson plans from the book’s website at http://www.thewishingflower.com.

"The Wishing Flower represents every child in the world. From the flower, the children see that you don't have to be perfect to be loved and valued." Dr. Penick Phillips-Cermak added.

In addition, The Wishing Flower has a line of merchandise featuring images from the story. “We have a number of cute things with the face of the flower and our Rainbow Babies,” Mosetta said. “ I like to give out pencils and ink pens, along with a blank journal to the children I visit. You can buy them online at Café Press ” (http://www.cafepress.com/maiacer).

First published in the 2007 Mother’s Day edition of The Writers’ Post Journal, The Wishing Flower, published both in paperback and case wrapped hardback, is available online and at most bookstores throughout the country.

"I call it a family fairy tale," continued Dr. Penick Phillips-Cermak. "I hope this encourages parents to read to their children.
