Zoom Eyeworks Increases Productivity and Scalability with Distribution Center Move

Hollister, CA, May 25, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Zoom Eyeworks announced that they have moved their distribution operations to a new facility, providing the company with the tools to both increase throughput productivity and scale sales support capacity to three times the current level. The new facility was designed in-house to not only take full advantage of best in class shipping processes and ‘Tier One’, a new warehouse management system, but also to serve as a fun and inviting place to work.

“We’ve taken all the speed bumps out of the shipping and receiving process,” says Jeff Linden, Senior V.P. of Operations at Zoom. “Not only have we more than doubled our cubic footage, with only a 30% larger footprint, but we’ve designed the warehouse specifically to fit our needs, allowing product to flow efficiently from receiving, through order pulling, to shipping, including maximum leverage of our management software from High Jump. We will be able to accommodate three times the current shipment load and cut a full 24 hours off our already speedy order turnarounds.”

Zoom, further demonstrating their commitment to going green, also designed the new warehouse using recycled materials and new, energy-saving hardware. Up to date computer hardware and servers were added to the IT department and new call center software was added to make re-ordering easy.

“Not only was it important for us to keep our commitment to our customers,” notes Linden, “it was important for us to keep our commitment to the community. Our dedicated workforce is an important part of our success. This is a community we’re proud to be a part of and we didn’t want to leave now or anytime in the future. Our customers, through focused planning and a little luck, didn’t experience any disruption or delay to their shipments. Our customers come first, and we wanted to ensure we upheld our commitments to them.”

As Zoom increases its distribution, a best practice facility was needed in order to communicate with the various ordering techniques of retailers. The combination of the new first class facility and the High Jump warehouse management system allows Zoom to build the foundation that will support growth with their world class retail customers and expanding channels of distribution.
