Zoom Eyeworks Announces ‘Meet Us & Go Green’ – for Every Appointment at NACDS Marketplace, Zoom Eyeworks Will Make a Donation to Plant Trees in the Customer’s Name

Berkeley, CA, May 25, 2008 --(PR.com)-- “zoom” eco-friendly reading glasses just got greener. The company has announced that for every appointment with Zoom at NACDS Marketplace, a donation will be made in the customer’s name to plant 100 trees in a developing country. Partnering with Trees For The Future, a non-profit organization based in Maryland, Zoom hopes ‘Meet Us & Go Green’ allows retailers to feel better about their own commitment to the environment.

“We’re taking ‘green’ to a new level”, explains Doug Lauer, President at Zoom Eyeworks. “Not only do we want to get the word out that our eco-friendly readers are the greenest on the market, we also wanted to give retailers the opportunity to help fight global warming by simply stopping by our booth.”

Earlier this year, Zoom Eyeworks introduced the industry’s first widely distributed, environmentally friendly reading glass collection. Made of 100% reclaimed plastic, reducing the amount of post industrial waste from 60 to 6%, and using recyclable papers and soy inks for the tags, this collection is just another in a long line of innovative product releases from Zoom.

Zoom Eyeworks Chief Designer, Mary Novie, notes, “These glasses aren’t just environmentally sensitive, they also look great. Our goal wasn’t to simply develop an eco-friendly reader, we wanted something consumers would want and feel proud to wear. The readers are fashionable, functional, and durable, and have the added benefit of creating a smaller carbon footprint.”

Trees For The Future, founded in 1988 as a nonprofit public charity, have planted over 50 million trees in 58 countries around the world, removing an estimated one million tons of CO2 from the atmosphere. Working directly with communities and villages hit hardest by deforestation, Trees For The Future provides technical knowledge on sustainable development as well as tree planting materials. This ensures that degraded lands and struggling farms can be returned to sustainable production, preserving traditional livelihoods and cultures.
