Pink Pig Cottage Antiques Opens Its New Store

A Second Pink Pig Antiques Store Opens This Season in the Heart of the Village of Westport, NY

Westport, NY, May 31, 2008 --(PR.com)-- On May 17th, a well known antique dealer in the Lake Champlain area of the Adirondack Mountains opened a second store in Westport, New York. Those who already know of the treasures and collectibles available at Pink Pig Cottage Antiques, in the charming turn of the century red barn just outside of Westport, will be delighted to visit the new shop located right on Main Street in one of the oldest buildings in the village. Some will remember this gray cedar shake building with the slate roof as the old drugstore.

Not only does one have a beautiful view of Lake Champlain from the doorway of the newest Pink Pig, but inside are four rooms filled with Cottage Style furniture with a major emphasis on Antique Wicker Selections. Items available include antique parlour chairs by Lloyd Loom and Haywood Wakefield Furniture as well as a line of Shabby Chic Furniture from the Rachel Ashwell Collection soon to be in the store this summer. To complete your shopping, choose from a full variety of gifts, home decor, monogrammed lampshades by Gloria Lombard Designs and beautiful vintage artwork.

In June of 2007, Debbie Schrodt followed her dream, moved to upstate New York and opened her first Pink Pig store in Westport after 28 years as a Wall Street Bond salesperson. Not staying with any one style, she caters to all lovers of antiques. In her newest store on can spot primitive antiques, vintage artwork, charming floral pillows, cottage lighting and a variety of antique beds including iron and painted cottage sets. Also available are crafts and furniture made by local Adirondacks' artists. Debbie says, "I was extremely blown away by the talent up here. I think it's important to promote local artists and let the world know how talented they are."

When Debbie opened her first store she was asked if she took decorating classes and she said, "No it's a passion! The neat thing about antiques is that they tell their own story." Her original Pink Pig is featured in Hot Cottage Collectibles by Dianne Zweig and with this newest Main Street location of more than 2,000 square feet of display area, one can easily assume that it, too, will be a hot topic for books mentioning fine dealerships that tell the story of collectibles with outstanding examples of many styles.

Open from May through December, make either of the Pink Pig shops one of your destinations as you drive through upstate New York on vacation this year. As Debbie says, "Each piece says something to you. I look at it and it almost talks to you." Come and hear for yourself what the outstanding collectibles at the Pink Pig have to say to you, and what these items will say to your friends when placed in your own home.
