Transoft Solutions’ Scholarship Awarded to Texas A&M Graduate Student

Vancouver, Canada, June 08, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Transoft Solutions, developers of industry leading transportation engineering design software, announces that the first Transoft Solutions AOTC (Ahead of the Curve) Scholarship winner is Texas A&M University graduate student, Jon Re.

Developed to address the declining number of students entering the field and partnered with ITE (Institute of Transportation Engineers) the Transoft Solutions AOTC Scholarship was created in June of 2007. The award, open to undergraduate and postgraduate students in the United States, was chosen by a committee at ITE.

“It is a privilege to have been awarded the Transoft Solutions AOTC Scholarship. I am deeply honored by the selection and the scholarship means a great deal to me,” commented Re. “I have utilized (Transoft Solutions’ vehicle maneuver swept path analysis software) AutoTURN on a number of projects when I worked as a consultant. The software definitely assisted in improving the quality of a project.”

A graduate from Michigan State University, Re was drawn to transportation engineering and the dynamic nature of the projects as well as problems that lie within transportation infrastructure development. Returning to graduate school after two and a half years in a consulting firm, he sees the major challenge for the industry currently is staying on top of the technology. According to Re, “It is critical, as a responsible practicing engineer, to remain innovative and progressive to meet the demands and challenges of future problems by expanding one's expertise in the latest technology and transportation applications.”

“I would like to personally congratulate Jon on being awarded this scholarship and wish him the very best in his professional journey,” said CEO and President, Milton Carrasco. “Sponsoring this scholarship is especially meaningful because the AutoTURN software, and subsequently Transoft Solutions, came about as a result of my Master’s project at the University of Calgary.”

Transoft Solutions is committed to the pursuit of education and continues to pledge to develop greater interest in transportation engineering and encourage greater numbers of students, to explore the opportunities within the industry. “Supporting the transportation engineering profession is just one way that Transoft gives back,” commented Mr. Carrasco.

In addition to the Transoft Solutions AOTC Scholarship, Transoft Solutions has also provided funding for the John F. Morrall Scholarship for graduate students studying transportation engineering at the University of Calgary’s Schulich School of Engineering.
