Shipman Signs with Onyx Sports Group for Representation

Honolulu, HI, June 12, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Onyx Sports Group Inc., the multi-sport and entertainment agency signed Midland Rockhounds right handed pitcher Andrew Shipment for representation on and off the field. Veteran agent Andrew Moss who will serve as Shipman’s primary agent, said “We are excited to add a player like Andy to our group and we look forward to doing innovative things with Andy and completing an outstanding season.”

Shipman was originally picked up by the Boston Red Sox as a free agent pick following the 2003 amateur draft where he pitched for the A (single A) affiliate and was later traded to the Chicago Cubs. Shipman started to work through the Cubs organization and in 2005 while with the Cubs AA (double A) affiliate he was named to the Southern League All-Star team. In 2006 Shipman was moved up to Chicago’s AAA (triple A) affiliate, Iowa Cubs, where he pitched in 46 games. After the 2006 season shipman was picked up by the Oakland Athletics in the rule 5 draft.

In 2007 Shipman moved into a starting role with the Midland Rockhounds, Oakland’s AA affiliate. He pitched in 28 games starting 18 and pitching 117.2 innings and ending the season with a 5.81 ERA (earned run average). Shipman was also named to the 2007 Texas League All-Star team. 2008 has seen Shipman back into the bullpen working everywhere from mid-relief to closing. Shipman said, “I just pitch when and how the team needs me to. I enjoy this game and will focus on where I am needed most.”

The Midland Rockhounds season began on April 3, 2008 and runs through September 1, 2008. All home games are played at Citibank ballpark in Midland, Texas. You may also listen to games online at, www.midlandrockhounds.org. Their next game will be June 10, 2008 against the Frisco Roughriders.
