Brand New Segment on “Eco-Friendly Transportation” to be Featured as Part of Vision Media’s “Environmental Report” Television Program

Total Breakthroughs Occur In Past Several Years To Make Environmentally Responsible Transportation a Reality.

Deerfield Beach, FL, April 06, 2006 --(PR.com)-- Today, Vision Media announced that they are currently in production of a new segment focused on Eco-Friendly Transportation as part of their “Environmental Report” series.  “It was not long ago when alternative fueled vehicles were seen as an impractical and unpopular selection in our market,” explained Duane Merchant.  “This is not just some futuristic dream, as we all know today—hybrid cars are almost commonplace, despite the fact that the automotive marketers are looking at these vehicles as loss-leaders.  Hybrid vehicles are now ‘must-haves’ in any major auto company’s lineup in order to be competitive” he added.

There will be several topics addressed on the series as a whole, and distinct programs will be distributed to public television, covering a wide spectrum of areas, such as Renewable Resources, Bioremediation, Creative Recycling, Industrial Cleanup, and Waste-to-Energy.

Merchant added, “Current alternative fueled cars have been somewhat controversial.  There have been claims that the fuel and cost savings, during normal urban driving conditions, have been overstated.  Couple that with the up-front cost of one of these vehicles, and some calculate that, even WITH fuel savings, these hybrids will need to rack up over 130,000 miles on them to make that initial investment worthwhile.  On the other hand, the vehicles keep getting better, and some state that, whatever the statistics, driving these vehicles shows the industry that it CAN be embraced by people who care about the environment.  After all, cars have always been about expressing oneself, and these hybrids have a message all their own.”   Though statistics can be manipulated and twisted to support arguments on both sides, Environmental Report will just present the actual facts, and then let the viewing audience decide for themselves.

Environmental Report is an issue-oriented, educational program, and is independently produced and distributed by Vision Media directly to public television stations in all 50 states.  Environmental Report strictly follows the standards and practices of public television.
