PIDC Connects with Vector180 for Wireless Point-to-Point Link to the Navy Yard in Philadelphia

Philadelphia, PA, June 18, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Philadelphia Industrial Development Corporation (PIDC) has contracted with Vector180, a leading commercial provider of wireless broadband services to the hospitality, recreational and business marketplaces, to upgrade their wireless point-to-point link between PIDC’s main office in Center City Philadelphia and their satellite office location in The Navy Yard.

Vector180 replaced PIDC’s wireless point-to-point link with new equipment capable of delivering over ten times the bandwidth (up to 45 mbps full-duplex) securely over an encrypted wireless link that is capable of overcoming interference from other communications equipment and inclement weather conditions.

“PIDC had simply outgrown their old wireless link, which was giving them a lot of issues with stability, uptime and bandwidth availability” reports Bob Kelly, VP of Operations at Vector180. “Between the outdated equipment operating on an overused frequency and PIDC’s need for additional bandwidth, we were familiar with their predicament and well equipped to address their needs”.

One of PIDC’s requirements was minimum network downtime during the cutover. By staging and pre-configuring the equipment, Vector180 was able to minimize the network downtime to 2 minutes while teams on each end of the link coordinated the swap out of the equipment.

Vector180’s expertise in the field of wireless networking, network infrastructure and bandwidth services is well suited to serve the IT needs of businesses in the Philadelphia region. With the addition of PIDC, Vector180 continues to expand its portfolio of services to customers located in The Navy Yard.
