Milan, Italy, June 20, 2008 --(PR.com
)-- TVBLOB™ (www.tvblob.com), a software and services development company that invented a new TV-centric platform able to bring the power of the Internet and WebTV to living rooms everywhere, announced the opening of a US division and the appointment of Jeff Fishburn as CEO TVBLOB US.
Jeff Fishburn’s principal function will be to launch TVBLOB USA commercial operations and develop business with CE manufacturers, broadband operators, and content producers wanting to deliver over-the-top, TV services to television-viewing audiences. Jeff will be bringing to market the TVBLOB platform, an innovative technology that allows consumers to use common household televisions and standard broadband connections for completely new user experiences. This new “TVOS” (TeleVision Operating System) can be implemented in both traditional and hybrid set-top boxes, allowing consumers to access new Web-based TV services while kicked back on the couch with a remote control.
"We believe it is time for the next revolution in the human experience –the way in which we entertain ourselves and interact with each other – and the TVBLOB platform of software and services not only enables but is delivering that revolution via TV", said Fishburn.
"The appointment of Jeff represents an important step in our growth, since the US market also impacts activity in Canada, Latin America, and the Asia-Pacific. Jeff’s notable professional experience, managerial capacity and vision of the business are well adapted to our objective to expand beyond national borders", said Fabrizio Caffarelli, founder and CEO of TVBLOB. "The US market is now receptive and mature enough for a proposition such as our own and we recognized the need to have a direct presence in order to capitalize on this potential. The market indicators are completely favorable, similar to when I launched Easy CD Creator in the US market in the early 90’s: within 12 months we conquered the market," said Caffarelli.
With more than 20 years of experience in the communications industry, Fishburn began his career at AT&T Bell Laboratories in product/market development, later moving to Lucent Technologies in business management and then WINfirst as CTO where he was responsible for integrating voice, video, and data services into a single infrastructure that still supplies triple-play access with 100Mb connections to residential subscribers today.
Subsequently as CTO at DynamicCity, Fishburn created the first, large-scale Open Service Provider Network able to support multiple service providers, all delivering IP-based voice, data, and video services.
Founded in 2004 by CEO Fabrizio Caffarelli, inventor of Easy CD Creator, TVBLOB is a software and service development company that has created a cutting-edge TV platform -a true TVOS (TeleVision Operating System) - that uses common household televisions and standard broadband connections to deliver completely new user experiences via TV. With TVBLOB, users will have new possibilities to access content offered by both traditional broadcasters and WebTV producers; use the television for video communication with friends and family; share personal content such as video and photos using services such as Picasa® and Flickr®. Professional TV producers and content providers will be able to reach an expanding TV audience and deliver WebTV to traditional television audiences in cost-efficient manner, while using common Web Development tools.
Headquartered in Milan, Italy, TVBLOB maintains a Research & Development branch in Catania (Sicily) and a commercial branch in the US.
