PR.com)-- The limited edition bronze sculpture, ‘Reflections’ was selected by the Global Summit of Women 2008 for its Award Presentation Ceremonies in Hanoi Vietnam. Three of the sculptures were presented as the ‘Best Practices Award’ and were given to the Ministers of Barbados, Mexico and South Africa for their outstanding achievements in public and private partnerships advancing women and girls.
Beginning his sculptural career in 1986, Brooklyn native McDermott’s work has been included in collections throughout the world. Largely self-taught, one of his earliest artistic influences was animal sculptor, Anna Hyatt Huntington. Prominent among his formal studies was his work with the California sculptor and teacher, Richard Miller. After working for several years in Spain, McDermott moved to California where his sculpting style emerged. Currently the artist resides in Virginia and shows locally at Gallery KH in Chicago.
