SQM Survey Shows Drinking and Driving Problem is Perceived to be Considerably Reduced

A SQM survey of Ontario’s Restaurants and Bars shows that their employees perceive fewer customers are Drinking and Driving than they were five years ago. Better customer service and greater education of the consequences of impaired driving are suggested to be contributing factors to this decrease in Drunk Driving.

Toronto, Canada, July 04, 2008 --(PR.com)-- A recent survey of employees in Ontario’s restaurants and bars indicates that most staff believe far fewer people are Drinking and Driving today than they were five years ago.

Of the 500 people surveyed, 84% felt that fewer customers were Driving after Drinking, 9% felt that levels of Drinking and Driving have remained the same, 4% felt there was more Drinking and Driving, while 3% were undecided.

A number of those surveyed felt that there was little change in the habits of older customers, while younger patrons were drinking more responsibly. This is possibly due to the greater education they have received of the consequences of drunk driving. Others suggest that the decrease in drunk driving is attributed to society’s growing intolerance of impaired driving.

Many restaurant and bar owners also believe that employees who are better trained in customer service are more attentive to their patrons drinking levels and this is helping to contribute to these decreased levels of drunk driving.
