This Summer, America’s ‘Low Budget’ Superstar will be crowned during the latest TV project from radio/TV personality, Jim “Poorman” Trenton. Scheduled to premiere on Saturday, May 6 [8:00-9:00PM/PT; repeats at 9:00-10:00PM/PT] on Los Angeles independent TV station, KJLA, the show will run 16 weeks with the two hour finals on Saturday, August 19th. America’s ‘Low Budget’ Superstar showcases top, undiscovered talent of all ages – from rappers and comedians to dancers and kids; contestants need originality and talent to impress judges. Show contestants are selected via videotape submissions that will be aired as part of each show, and are competing for $10,000 cash, a car from South Coast Toyota in Costa Mesa, a scholarship to the New York Film Academy, and the “Golden Crown” title: “America’s ‘Low Budget’ Superstar.” There is even a prize for the worst performance of the season.

Here are some highlighted contestant submissions that will be featured during the upcoming season of America’s ‘Low Budget’ Superstar:

1. Jack the Dagger Thrower.
2. A magician drowning in water escaping from shackles.
3. A rapping Caucasian, Jewish, middle-aged lesbian who looks like Bart Simpson (She claims that she's the ultimate minority).
4. Johnny Holliday, the 93 year-old entertainer who acts, lifts weights, and dances the Charleston.
5. A nine year-old stand-up comic.
6. A music video entitled "Bob Saget" featuring the host comedian in a rap song.
7. A dominatrix showcasing her performance.
8. A music video that cost $20 to produce.

“America’s ‘Low Budget’ Superstar combines the spirit of American Idol, The Gong Show, and America’s Funniest Home Videos and provides a unique, entertaining showcase for some of the craziest – yet talented – individuals from around the country,” says Jim “Poorman” Trenton, Executive Producer. “Our expanded format and airing of videotaped submissions not only allows for much more diversity among contestants, but also broadens the appeal of our show to a larger audience.”

America’s ‘Low Budget’ Superstar is being produced and distributed by Trenton Partners, Inc., a Southern-California production company specializing in independent TV productions. The 16-week show will be filmed in Los Angeles in a limited partnership agreement with the New York Film Academy (www.nyfa.com) on the lot of Universal Studios. Show creator “Poorman” will serve as Executive Producer and Host, and Dorian Coss will direct. Contestants will be judged by a panel of three established talent agents and managers who will be joined each week by a surprise celebrity guest judge. The viewing audience will have a collective “wild card” vote.
