Last Blast For Rockford Business Icon

After 3 decades of booming success, Audio Installers closes on Saturday, July 26.

Rockford, IL, July 16, 2008 --(PR.com)-- In the wake of a major land purchase at Main Street and Auburn, Audio Installers is departing Rockford’s business and its cultural community.

Cultural? Bringing music and cars together became the cultural definition of synergy, especially on ‘the west side’ and ultimately all of metropolitan Rockford, including even Belvidere, Freeport, Janesville and southern Wisconsin. As the “Boom Boom” generation grew up, they invested (literally) into making their vehicles the music and sound envy of all like-minded jammers. Their numbers as well as the music they loved exploded to the point where automobiles began evolving into gigantic industrial speakers-on-wheels…and Audio Installers became the place to go if you wanted it done right.

Founder, Michael Roncke says, “My focus has always been on the entire range of after-purchase car options, not just speakers & sound, but customer interest in sound grew, grew and grew, eventually to the point it was like a rocket zooming beyond anything I could control or predict. My bride of 30 years attributes it politely to ‘youthful exuberance’.” Roncke joked, “In any case, by personal choice we settled out in the country where it’s absolutely private and quiet”.

Over the years, in addition to Audio Installers, Roncke launched two other businesses, both non-retail, which he is confident are ripe for rapid growth do to soaring gas prices. One of these businesses addresses the big-screen/home-theater market; the other tackles design & distribution of technical equipment for satellite signal reception and high-tech security gear.

“In my opinion”, Roncke adds, “gas pricing has already triggered another cultural revolution that enormously effects how people enhance their homes, because like-it-or-not they’re going to be spending way more time there. A cultural shift comparable to what you saw in the audio-car market is now about to impact the home theater, satellite dish and security industries, so that’s exactly where I intend to be. Beginning August 1st, my staff and I will headquarter at new offices adjacent to The Speedway. As wonderful as retailing was to me these past 30 years, once Audio Installers closes I’ll be able to focus totally on our next growth surge, which I’m certain will dwarf the last one”.
