New RedBarnMercantile.com Offers Its One-of-a-Kind Home Décor and Gifts Online

Red Barn Mercantile, an Alexandria, Va., furniture boutique that specializes in mixing new and antique furniture, brings its vintage-inspired home furnishings and one-of-a-kind gifts to the web with the launch of its new e-commerce site, www.redbarnmercantile.com.

Alexandria, VA, July 16, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Red Barn Mercantile brings its vintage-inspired home furnishings and one-of-a-kind gifts to the web with the launch of its new e-commerce site, www.redbarnmercantile.com. The site provides shoppers 24-7 access to the store's unique lines of furniture, home décor and tabletop items, as well as children's and grown-up gifts.

Frances Palmer pottery, Hable Construction bags, Serena and Lily crib sets, Pamela Kline's Suzi coverlet bedding, k. hall and Marseille Savon soaps and lotions and Aunt Sadies candles are all available for sale on the site.

"The site offers a fairly broad sample of the vintage-inspired products, gifts and books that we sell in our store," says Red Barn's owner Amy Rutherford, "but shoppers will still need to come to Old Town if they want to get the full Red Barn experience."

The store -- which specializes in mixing new with old, modern with primitive, urban with country -- does not currently offer its collection of antiques online. Shoppers will need to visit Red Barn's Alexandria, Va., location, 113 S. Columbus St., to peruse Ms Rutherford's flea market finds and vintage furnishings.

And what better way to shop for a couch or chair, than to come by and try them out. Red Barn Mercantile sells Cisco Brothers furniture. This made-in-America furniture uses environmentally sustainable materials, is hypoallergenic and beautiful. Custom orders are welcome and can be shipped nationwide.

"In this day and age, being environmentally friendly is not only a good thing to do, it's necessary," Rutherford says. "That's one reason why I enjoy selling antiques and vintage items alongside responsibly manufactured products. It's a way to reuse and recycle while giving your home a great conversation piece or showing off your unique sense of style."

Walk through the store and you'll see Frances Palmer dinnerware dressing an antique farm table, or rows of French soaps and lotions lined up along an antique step-back cabinet. Whimsical Thomas Paul pillows are displayed in a century-old dry sink. A vintage bed is made with Pamela Kline's Suzi coverlet bedding. And Jamie Young lighting illuminates the brilliantly colored Dash & Albert rugs.

Visitors to the site can, however, get a glimpse of the store in the online photo gallery. The web site also features a blog and email newsletter so shoppers can be alerted to new products -- both new and vintage -- as they are added to the shop floor or web site.

Red Barn Mercantile is an independently owned and operated home furnishing and gift store in the heart of Old Town Alexandria. The store offers a mix of rustic antiques, conversation pieces and newly manufactured items to provide a whole-room approach to home décor. Store hours: 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday; noon to 5 p.m. Sunday. For more information, visit www.redbarnmercantile.com.
