Charlotte, NC, February 01, 2026 --(PR.com)-- One hour a month. One student's future. 100 mentors needed.
In just 18 months, the Sparks Mentorship Program has grown from zero to 82 students across 52 colleges—and demand is accelerating. To stay ahead of that growth, SetFire Foundation is launching "Spring Forward: Plant 100 Seeds" on February 1, a campaign to recruit 100 new mentors by April 30, 2026.
"One hour a month. That's all it takes to change the trajectory of a student's career. Most of us can't remember what we did with a random hour last Tuesday—but a student will remember the mentor who showed up for them," said Ted Bozarth, Founder and Chairman of SetFire Foundation.
The Impact
The Sparks Mentorship Program pairs undergraduate students with experienced professionals for free, year-long virtual mentorships. The results speak for themselves: 85 active mentors, 481 one-on-one sessions completed, a 94.7% program completion rate, and an estimated $154,000 in value delivered to participants. With current mentoring capacity almost exhausted, the campaign aims to build the infrastructure needed for the next wave of students.
One recent program graduate described the experience: "My mentor provided tailored experience and wisdom, but also asked thought-provoking questions that I could sit on and find my own answers to. The skills and understanding I gained from this mentorship will go with me for years."
One mentor echoed the sentiment: "My goal was simply to help students succeed. I soon realized that while I was giving to them, I was receiving even more in return. Every student 'thank you' makes it worthwhile."
The Ask
The campaign targets professionals in Business, Information Technology, and Engineering fields with five or more years of experience and a passion for helping others grow. Mentors dedicate just one hour per month to guide a student through career exploration, goal-setting, and professional development. It's a small lift and a huge impact. Mentors set their own schedules, meet virtually from anywhere, and connect with students at times that work for both parties.
