Boutique Law Firm Strohal I Kretschmer I Rebasso to Help Singaporean-Based Companies do Business in the Middle East

Singapore, Singapore, July 26, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Law firm invited to consult at two-day information desk organised by IE Singapore.

The boutique law firm Strohal I Kretschmer I Rebasso will be helping Singaporean companies grow their business in the Middle East at a two-day information desk to be held in Singapore on 4th and 5th August, 2008.

The two-day information desk has been organised by International Enterprise (IE) Singapore and the International Trade Institute of Singapore (ITIS). It will be held at IE Singapore, 230 Victoria Street #10-00, Bugis Office Tower, from 3pm to 6pm each day. It is the second time that Strohal I Kretschmer I Rebasso has been invited to provide consultation services at a business event in Singapore.

With offices in Vienna, Singapore and the UAE, Strohal I Kretschmer I Rebasso has extensive experience in the Middle East. The law firm was first established by Emil Strohal in Vienna in 1870. In addition to the legal practice, Emil Strohal was also a legal scholar of the highest rank. He taught at the Universities of Graz, Leipzig and Göttingen, where he was the successor of Rudolf von Ihering. Emil Strohal was considered the founder of the Austrian land registry law, and his family has been active in the practice of law since then.

The current law office was founded in 1979 by Dr. Theodor Strohal and it has rapidly expanded to become one of the most reputable boutique law firms catering to individual clients’ specific needs. Today, Strohal I Kretschmer I Rebasso has an established footprint in Europe, South East Asia and the Middle East, with a strong focus on international and cross-border business and real estate work.

Commenting on the invitation to advise Singaporean companies doing business in the Middle-East, partner Dr. Theodor Strohal said, “The Middle East is a progressive region experiencing a massive economic growth. The amount of local wealth, business opportunities, strategic geographic locations and the region’s tax policies are major attractions for companies to set up, invest and do business in the region. In addition to understanding how to seize the business opportunities, companies should also be aware of the investment environment and business cultures. For example, they should be familiar with local business etiquette when venturing into the Middle East.”

At the two-day information desk, Strohal I Kretschmer I Rebasso will engage with Singaporean companies to help them understand that forming a long-term relationship with reputable legal advisors who have strong local insight and experience is essential to business success in the Middle East.

Senior Associate Ahmed Ibrahim Abdel Wahab, who practices Contruction Law, Arbitration, Business Law and Corporate Law in Arabic and English, added, “Construction is a big industry in the Middle East. There is a lot of money to be made and, at the same time, many pitfalls to be avoided. It’s crucial to engage with legal advisory before entering the market. Establishing a long-term relationship with a law firm is much more cost-effective and sensible than simply contacting a lawyer when you go into a dispute.”

Alphonsus Chia, Deputy CEO of IE Singapore commented, “We have seen an increasing number of Singapore-based companies going to the UAE and many of these companies require a range of legal services to support their businesses there. Moving ahead, IE Singapore looks forward to celebrating more success of Singapore-based companies in the Middle East.”
