)-- Patient Safety & Quality Healthcare (PSQH), a semi-monthly publication on healthcare safety and risk management, is featuring a cover story on the use of ferromagnetic detection for MRI patient safety. The article is written by Tobias Gilk, President and MRI Safety Director for Mednovus, Inc.

The article illustrates the experiences of the New York Presbyterian Weill Cornell Medical Center (NYP/WC) in their review and adoption of ferromagnetic detection screening of MRI patients.
NYP/WC compared ferromagnetic detection vendors and technologies and is now using Mednovus SAFESCAN(R) hand-held and walk-through ferromagnetic detection products. The article recounts the adoption and adaptation process that NYP/WC has followed to maximize the safety benefit from these new tools.
