The Performance Lab No. 33—producer of the award-winning film “The Kingfish”—has released a new director’s cut of its latest short film, “Sign Your Name,” winner of Best Feature/Short Film at the New York Monthly Film Festival, on YouTube.

Philadelphia, PA, September 21, 2026 --(PR.com)-- The Performance Lab No. 33—producer of the award-winning film “The Kingfish”—has released a new director’s cut of its latest short film, “Sign Your Name,” winner of Best Feature/Short Film at the New York Monthly Film Festival, on YouTube. The film, starring Jordan Webber, Xavier Edwards, Omar Long, and Ursula Augustine, is based on true events and was inspired by the artistic struggles of ’80s soul singer Terence Trent D’Arby (Sananda Maitreya).

Artist X (Xavier Edwards) is a multi-platinum recording artist whose record label chief, Omar (Omar Long), wants him to create a sound-alike follow-up album to ensure the new project’s sales success. Instead, Artist X wants to change course and create “something new, something fresh,” which creates friction between him and Omar. Additionally, Omar demands an end to the budding relationship between Artist X and fellow singer and labelmate Cupcake (Jordan Webber).

The director’s cut more closely reflects the vision of producer/director Tab Edwards, producer and director of the award-winning film “The Kingfish,” and features new live performance clips from Artist X’s concerts in Wilmington, Delaware, and at The Liacouras Center in Philadelphia.

The film is now streaming on YouTube.
