BigNews.biz today released their monthly list of the top ranked free press release distribution sites. The updated list gives organizations and individuals a list of quality sites to submit releases.

The updated list for July 2008 contains 17 Web sites that qualify for inclusion out of 80 that were reviewed. Four new sites were added based on submissions from readers.
Online press release distribution sites are used by public relations professionals, businesses, organizations and individuals to publish and distribute news releases to the media and the public. The purpose of these releases is to generate media and public interest in their "news." Many press release distribution sites offer their services for free, but their value as a pr resource is often negligible. To assist press releases publishers in their efforts to find quality sites to distribute their releases, Bignews.biz created this list of top sites.
After 4 years of using many of these services for PR clients and developing software for press release distribution sites, BigNews.biz developed the list of the top free press release submission sites based on four specific criteria.
For a site to be included on the list:
1. It must offer a free press release distribution service to their users. They can also offer premium services for a fee.
2. Have a Google pagerank greater than 4.
3. Have an Alexa.com rank greater than 300,000
4. The majority of releases published on the site appear in Google News.
Many sites fit one or two or maybe even three of the above criteria for inclusion but out of 80 sites evaluated, only 17 sites were selected for the July 2008 list. Compared to the June list, four new sites qualified for inclusion and most of the sites on the July 2008 list showed increased rank on Alexa.com when compared to their June rank.
