Recent Release, "Barkley," from Page Publishing Author Gregory Gould, Follows a Retired Police Officer Who Discovers Danger Beneath Lake Ontario's Serene Waters
Three Mile Bay, NY, August 27, 2026 --(PR.com)-- Gregory Gould has completed his new book, "Barkley," which introduces Robert Kilmer, a recently retired police officer from Vermont seeking a tranquil new chapter. Relocating to the shores of Lake Ontario in New York State with his beloved French bulldog companion, Robert purchases a fishing boat and envisions peaceful days casting lines into quiet waters. Yet this idyllic vision shatters when the lake reveals its sinister secrets, drawing both man and dog into perilous circumstances they never anticipated.
Drawing from decades of distinguished service in law enforcement, Gould brings authentic expertise to his narrative. His background includes extensive fraud and death investigations, membership in the Southern Vermont Law Enforcement Task Force, and leadership of a wilderness search and rescue operation. Beyond his investigative work, Gould's deep commitment to community service through emergency medical training and youth education enriches the character development throughout the story, infusing it with credible detail and genuine insight into the investigative process.
In "Barkley," Gould weaves together unexpected criminal investigations and a haunting mystery that defies explanation. Readers will discover how Robert and his steadfast canine partner navigate dangerous terrain—both literal and criminal—as they become entangled in events that test their resolve. The novel explores themes of reinvention, the bonds between human and animal, and how even in retirement, one's past cannot always remain behind. With each revelation, the stakes escalate, transforming what should have been a restful escape into a gripping struggle against dark forces.
"My years in law enforcement taught me that reality often surpasses fiction in its complexity and moral ambiguity," said Gould. "I wanted to create a story where a man seeking peace instead confronts mysteries that demand justice, with his loyal companion at his side every step of the way."
Published by Page Publishing, Gregory Gould's gripping work offers readers an engrossing blend of mystery, crime investigation, and the unbreakable connection between person and pet. This novel will captivate those who appreciate authentic procedural elements intertwined with compelling personal transformation.
Readers who wish to experience this riveting work can purchase "Barkley" at bookstores everywhere, or online at the Apple iTunes Store, Amazon, Google Play, or Barnes and Noble.
